Scorpio New Moon Opposes Uranus: “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”
On October 27 at 10:38 pm EDT, we have a new moon in Scorpio in exact opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Ruled by Venus,Taurus likes to magnetize resources to itself and acquire material things. Scorpio, like it or not, is about elimination and death to those things that no longer serve our transformation. Together, they represent the “give me liberty or give me death” sentiment attributed to Patrick Henry during the American Revolution, and, ironically, the notion that we can’t have one without the other. Sometimes liberation means that certain ideas, habits, or lifestyles must die to give birth to the freedom our soul desires.
Scorpio, ruled by both Mars and Pluto, likes to maintain control yet always finds that it must surrender to some form of elimination. And both Mars and Pluto are featured as the rulers in a quincunx from Chiron in Aries to the Scorpio New Moon. Quincunxes require advanced healing, while Aries and Scorpio like to remain in control. But if one works with the energies correctly, deep healing can take place so that the only thing being eliminated are the destructive forces of the ego.
Pluto, having been featured in a T-square to the Aries full moon a few weeks ago, was teaching us about the wise use of power. It is now making a square to Mars, the ancient ruler of Scorpio. Mars, at 15 Libra, forms a quincunx to Neptune at 16 Pisces, inviting us to dissolve ego-like control to commune with Spirit, and trust that Spirit has our back. Saturn at 15 Capricorn also forms a square to Mars, making its impulsive tendencies more restrained and conservative.
Another important feature in this chart is the T-square from Mars to the Nodes of the Moon. This is about us finding balance amidst the change from a very heavy past represented by South Node and Saturn in Capricorn (and Pluto in Capricorn still transforming this past) with where we are headed, represented by the North Node in Cancer. North Node in Cancer seeks emotional security and fulfillment, and is on its way to that end. However, in the meantime, the Mars impulsivity to just “go get freedom” must pace itself with the influences from Saturn and Neptune.
Liberty is on its way, and Uranus will deliver it. In the meantime, adjustments must be made to our level of trust in spirit versus our desire to make it happen in our own way and time.
